We recognise that the satisfaction of our employees is vital to our success and we therefore actively encourage the involvement of all our employees in the business as far as practicable. We also recognise the support given to them by their families and we try to make them feel part of the organisation as well.
We have our own in house newspaper, The Jen, which keeps employees informed of what is happening in the company, key future development and staff activities.
We have invested heavily in information technology, with the provision of PCs and Microsoft software throughout the group. We have an email system to help with the speed of communication and our web site has been up and running for several years and has proved to be very successful. We are currently developing a company intranet.
There are many initiatives in the training and development area. We have introduced a formal work experience scheme so that local students can experience life at a main dealership and be helped with their career choices. To ensure we have the best quality school leavers joining us, we have implemented a Jennings Ford apprenticeship scheme. In addition we are committed to manufacturers' development programmes for technicians, customer-facing employees and managers.
We recognise the important that partners and families play in the organisation and we try to make them feel part of the company. A Christmas party for employees' children takes place at Morpeth, Tyneside, Wearside and Teesside locations every year. We also organise various out of work activities for staff and their families. We currently have a hospitality box at the Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle, and this is used by employees, as well as for corporate entertaining.
